About Us

Jonathan founded the Smile Partners business in 2017, and has led the business throughout its growth journey. As CEO, Jonathan is responsible for developing and leading Smile Partners’ strategy and growth agenda, while remaining heavily involved with practice acquisitions and partnerships, and with clinician recruitment.

Prior to Smile Partners, Jonathan worked within the Advisory functions of two large professional services firms in the UK and Australia. Although he worked across a wide variety of sectors, the last couple of years were spent mainly advising healthcare businesses. During this period, Jonathan developed an appreciation of the importance of understanding the clinical philosophies and personal drivers of individual doctors to building trust and partnership. This has remained a fundamental principle of Smile Partners throughout its growth journey.

Jonathan is a Chartered Accountant and received an Economics degree from the University of Leeds in the UK. He lives in Adelaide and has three boys – James, Jack and Max, and outside of work enjoys travel, golf and running.

Dr. Amy Buchler is an American orthodontist and clinical leader known for her dedication to mentoring doctors, elevating patient care, and fostering practice excellence across a wide range of clinical settings.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Oregon State University, her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University and completed her orthodontic residency and Master’s degree at the University of Colorado. Board-certified and professionally active, Dr. Buchler has guided both private practices and large multi-site orthodontic teams, combining hands-on clinical expertise with a deep understanding of operational success.

In her role at Smile Partners Australia, she supports a growing network of orthodontists while championing autonomy, collaboration, and a patient-first approach. Outside the clinic, she enjoys traveling, time with family, and staying ahead of the latest orthodontic innovations.

As Chief Commercial Officer, Tim oversees the commercial operations of the network ensuring our clinicians can focus on patient care. Supported by a team of General and Regional managers, he also has oversight of our People and Culture, Marketing and Practice integration teams.

Tim has significant experience across multi-site network businesses across Asia Pacific in Human Services, Insurance and Retail. Most recently he Executive General Manager for InvoCare Limited – leading their 50 International locations whilst retaining responsibility for enterprise wide strategy. corporate development and innovation.

He is a Co-Op Scholar from UTS, a CA and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Outside the office, Tim is a member of the NSW State Emergency Service, and enjoys all things outdoors – camping, canyoning, golf and cycling as well as and spending time with his wife and twin children.

As GM of Finance, Tim oversees Smile Partners’ financial planning and reporting. His core goal to deliver reporting to practices and the business more broadly to help drive understanding of performance and ultimately facilitate continuous improvement on patient and financial outcomes. In addition, Tim oversees relationships with investors, lenders and suppliers/service providers.

Previously, Tim (a Certified Chartered Accountant) worked for over 15 years at professional services and consultancy firms with a focus on cash management, turn-around and performance improvement projects for a broad range of businesses across the UK, Asia and Australia.

As General Manager (North), Paul leads the regional manager team across New South Wales, Queensland, and the Northern Territory, supporting Smile Partners’ practices to deliver exceptional patient care and operational performance. He works closely with orthodontists and their teams to drive growth, enhance the patient experience, and support day-to-day practice success. Paul brings a strong background in operations, strategy and leadership, with earlier experience in banking and wealth management. Since joining Smile Partners in 2018, he’s developed a deep understanding of what makes an orthodontic practice thrive — both clinically and commercially. Outside of work, Paul enjoys keeping fit, spending time outdoors and following Liverpool FC.

As General Manager – Operations (South), Kaila leads with our WA, SA and VIC regional managers and supports them with their portfolio of practices to achieve exceptional patient outcomes, whilst being operationally effective and profitable businesses. Additionally, she is responsible for integrating newly acquired practices within her region. Having spent her entire career in the Dental industry, Kaila made the move to Orthodontics in 2019 whilst completing an MBA. She has worn a few hats since joining Smile Partners and thrives in working collaboratively with practice and support office teams. In her spare time Kaila enjoys spending time with her husband and Golden Retriever, travelling the world and finding any opportunity to get outside in nature.

As Head of People and Culture, Rebecca is responsible for leading Smile Partners’ people strategy and supporting a growing, high-performing workforce across the group.

Prior to joining Smile Partners, Rebecca held senior HR leadership roles in high-growth, acquisition-driven organisations, building and scaling People and Culture functions to support business growth. She is passionate about creating practical, people-first strategies that enable both teams and businesses to thrive.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Sociology. Residing on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, she is married to Nick, an educator and school leader, and they have a young son, Beau.

As Head of Patient Growth at Smile Partners, Elliott leads the development and execution of marketing strategies to drive patient acquisition and engagement across our growing network of independently branded orthodontic practices. His role focuses on optimising the full patient journey – from initial lead generation to conversion and retention – with a strong emphasis on modernising digital engagement systems and marketing technology.

Elliott brings over a decade of experience across healthcare, veterinary, hospitality, and entertainment sectors, with a proven record of delivering growth and improving consumer experience in multi-site environments. Prior to joining Smile Partners, he led digital marketing transformations and growth-focused initiatives across multi-brand portfolios.

Outside of work, Elliott stays active through running and hiking, enjoys time at the beach, and occasionally heads out on his motorbike.

As Head of Talent Acquisition, Leanne leads the national recruitment strategy for orthodontists across the network, ensuring we attract, engage, and retain high-calibre clinicians who align with our commitment to exceptional patient care. Working closely with clinicians, practice leaders, and partners, she focuses on building trusted relationships and long-term career pathways that support both personal and professional aspirations. Her role goes beyond recruitment—it’s about understanding what matters most to each orthodontist and ensuring Smile Partners is a place where they can thrive.

With over a decade of experience in healthcare recruitment, workforce planning, and employer branding, Leanne brings a deep understanding of how to support clinicians in making informed, confident decisions about their future. She is particularly passionate about helping orthodontists navigate career transitions – whether they’re relocating from overseas or across the country, stepping into practice ownership, or just starting out in their careers—ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.

Based on the Gold Coast, Leanne enjoys life by the ocean, travelling around Australia in her campervan with her husband, exploring new food destinations, and spending time with family in the UK whenever she can.

Emily Sutton played a key role in establishing Smile Partners’ Clinical Advisory Committee (CAC) in early 2025. Created to ensure the organisation remains clinically led, the CAC provides strategic input grounded in real-world experience — supporting doctors, clinical teams, and patients at every level.
As a founding member, Emily acts as a bridge between the Smile Partners leadership team and the clinicians on the committee. She helps shape decisions by translating strategic priorities into practical clinical outcomes, ensuring they align with on-the-ground realities.
Emily holds a Bachelor in Oral Health and brings years of experience working in and alongside orthodontic clinics across Australia. Her clinical background, operational insight, and strong commitment to patient care continue to guide the committee’s focus and future direction.

As Head of Practice Partnerships at Smile Partners, Jo works closely with orthodontists to explore potential partnerships and joint venture opportunities. This includes supporting a wide range of goals, from practice growth to transition-to-retirement planning.

Claire brings over 25 years of experience in the dental industry, spanning both clinical practice and commercial roles with leading organizations such as GC Australasia, Henry Schein, 3M Unitek, and Invisalign. This diverse background has given me a well-rounded understanding of both dentistry and orthodontics. Prior to joining Smile Partners, I spent 13 years at Invisalign, where I held several roles—including six years as National Sales Manager for the Orthodontic Channel across Australia and New Zealand.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and beloved rescue fur babies. I’m also a passionate sports fan, with a particular love for AFL, Tennis and the English Premier League.

As Head of Operations, Claire works closely with our practice leadership teams and is focused on providing tools and resources to support the ongoing development of our Practice Managers.

Prior to joining us, Claire held various operational leadership roles across human and animal health sectors, with an unwavering focus on team development, practice growth and success.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys travelling, cooking, and camping with her family.

Dr. Helen Moon brings a global perspective and a wealth of experience to her role on the Clinical Advisory Committee at Smile Partners Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) from the University of Queensland and a Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Manitoba in Canada. Dr. Moon is a fully qualified specialist orthodontist in Australia, Canada, and the USA.

She is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and an active member of both the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and the Canadian Association of Orthodontists (CAO). Her clinical expertise is complemented by a strong academic background, with her research presented at leading international orthodontic conferences.

Dr. Moon is deeply committed to evidence-based, personalised care, with a particular focus on digital orthodontics and clear aligner therapy. She has completed the Aligner Intensive Fellowship, an advanced program in aligner treatment, and remains at the forefront of innovative orthodontic techniques.

Having lived and worked in both hemispheres, Dr. Moon brings her knowledge and experience back home to Australia. As a Sydney native, she enjoys an active lifestyle outside the clinic, including tennis, scuba diving, and making the most of the Australian sun.

Dr Baker graduated from the University of Melbourne, dux of the Faculty of Dentistry in 1982. He had spent 16 years in general dentistry, running his own practice and providing treatment in all major disciplines, as well as maintaining an interest in continued education, especially orthodontics. Dr Baker returned to full time study in 1998 to complete his master’s degree and become a specialist orthodontist. As a practicing orthodontist, Dr Baker worked in Caulfield and Greensborough before establishing his current practice in Knox City in 2002. Dr Baker continues to keep up to date with new developments by attending courses and lectures and is a clinical demonstrator at the University of Melbourne, where he supervises dentists who are specialising in orthodontics. Dr Baker and his wife Michelle have been married since 1984 and they have two adult children. In his spare time, he loves golf and his beloved AFL team St. Kilda, which he has supported since he was a child.
